Charles Fisher

As owner and operator of Trafalgar Recording Studios in Sydney the studio became one of Australia's premier independent recording facilities, recording & producing acts through the ‘70's and ‘80's such as Marcia Hines, Midnight Oil, INXS, Cold Chisel, Skyhooks, Sherbet, Radio Birdman, Moving Pictures, Martin Plaza, Hoodoo Gurus, as well as international acts such as Police and Elvis Costello.

In 1994 Charles sold Trafalgar Studios and decided to take a year break, then began his freelancing in independent production.

Three years later, Charles produced the debut album for unsigned act, Savage Garden which sold over 10 million copies worldwide & spawned the US No. 1 single “Truly, Madly, Deeply”.

Charles Fisher has over 40 gold and platinum albums to his credit and is referred to in Australia as "The Song Doctor" for his great ability to perceive potential in songs that come to life with some rewriting and arrangement changes. Indeed his greatest successes have been with debut acts, finding the right direction and material to enhance their potential. His two greatest commercial successes, 1927 and Savage Garden, were both unsigned.

In 2001, Australian publishers, through APRA, awarded him the Ted Albert Award in recognition of this ability.
