Emile Sherman

Emile Sherman is the principal of See-Saw Films - a production company that focuses on producing quality feature films for the Australian and international marketplace.

See-Saw Films also co-distributes many of its films in Australia, co-financing the distribution costs and working with physical distributors such as Dendy Films and Icon Films.

In 2000, Emilefounded Ocean Pictures, also a production and distribution company. Ocean Pictures' films include Rabbit-Proof Fence, The Night We Called It a Day and The Honourable Wally Norman.

Emile Sherman also produced Rod Freedman's documentary Uncle Chatzkel, which was nominated for an Australian Film Institute Award for Best Documentary and has won numerous awards at festivals around the world.

Since founding Sherman Pictures in 2004, Emile Sherman Executive Produced and Sherman Pictures co-distributed Oyster Farmer which grossed over $2.4 million at the Australian Box Office, and then produced Opal Dream directed by Peter Cattaneo (The Full Monty).

He produced with Margaret Fink Neil Armfield's Candy, starring Abbie Cornish, Heath Ledger and Geoffrey Rush. Candy was selected for official competition at the Berlin International Film Festival 2006 and has sold to all major territories internationally.

Sherman Pictures with Lama Productions also shot Australian/Israeli co-production $9.99, a stop motion animation feature film based on internationally acclaimed Israeli writer Etgar Keret's short stories and directed by Tatia Rosenthal.

Sherman Pictures is producing with Wild Strawberries an adaptation of Nobel Prize winning author J.M. Coetzee's Booker Prize winning novel Disgrace starring John Malkovich shot in early 2007.

Emile has since set up a new production company, See-Saw Films.
